“The Deck” is a new web series created by Lenny Bryan and hosted by Kara Bibb and Jeff Matika, dedicated to highlighting local songwriters and their creative process. It’s a sort of game show, in which songwriters draw cards that — like Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies — offer very specific constraints (“use sleigh bells,” say, or “sing about running away”) under which the featured contestants then write a new song. Past  episodes have highlighted locals Mandy McBryde, Pockets, John Willis, Sea Nanners and more.

Andrew Morgan (of Country Florist, ettiem and Chinese Girls) stars in the new episode, in which he’s instructed to use a vocoder and a “mystery instrument,” and does so to great effect.
