A blog catches Bill Clinton at the Des Moines Starbucks and reaps what I suspect will be the evening line should, as appears likely, Hillary Clinton not lead the Democratic field.

On why it won’t matter if Hillary loses in Iowa, Clinton referred to his 1992 “comeback kid” campaign:

“Look at my first result. I finished second in New Hampshire, third in the Maine caucus, second in Colorado, second in Maryland, second or third in South Dakota. I didn’t win a race until I got to Georgia. Then I won in Georgia. Then I won in South Carolina. Then we started winning. So I don’t think … you just got to keep going. It’s a long process.”

Clinton also spoke warmly of Mike Huckabee over coffee.

CELEBRITY NOTE: My daughter Martha checks in from Hillary campaigning in Waukee, Iowa. Working the phone bank for Hillary is filmmaker Ron Howard. That’s good enough to call for nominations for your favorite Andy Griffith episode. Opie and the dead bird is right up there. Though Mike Huckabee does make you think of “Citizen’s Arrest.”
