This week’s Insider noted some fractured Latin and syntax in the big ads being run in the Democrat-Gazette for the Hussman-Walton Memorial Charter School, Roy Brooks, prop., that’s going in at Third and Louisiana.
A friend reports:
Have you checked their website?
Lots for you to work with throughout the website. A few samples (I especially like the language “tract”):
* “An Expanded School Day and Calendar: Unlike traditional public schools, eStem students will attend school nine hours each day and will benefit from an expanded school calendar of 200 days of school attendance.”
* “Of the 20 fastest-growing occupations projected through 2010, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics concludes that 15 of them will require substantial Mathematics or Science preparation.”
* “The school curriculum incorporates a language tract:
·Latin in grades K-4 (as a foundation for English and other foreign languages);
·Spanish in grades 5-8; and
·Mandarin Chinese (for trade) in grade 9.”
