New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer is in a world of hurt.

He’s had his news conference. He apologized. But he did not resign. And he did not take questions about his alleged patronizing of a fancy prostitution ring. He said he would  be back with the press in “short order,” which could mean that his reported resignation still could be in the offing.
