Bentonville Police are investigating what they believe to be methamphetamine and other drug evidence at the residence where five girls died in a fire early this morning.
Killed in the fire at 402 S.W. B St. were Kristan Frazier, 13; Kimberly Frazier, 11; Katelyn Mahmens, 8; Kaila Frazier, 8, and Kyla Frazier, 5.
Parents Jamie Dale Frazier and Karry Mahmens Frazier were awakened by a smoke detector at around 1:20 a.m. They could not reach the second floor, where the girls were, because of smoke and fire in the staircase, Chief Dan White said.
The Bentonville Fire Department, just a block and a half away from the house, arrived at 1:22 a.m. They found the girls’ bodies in one room upstairs.
Bentonville Police served a drug-related search warrant at 8 a.m. based on what police observed when they responded earlier to the fire and collected several items. The bodies of the children were sent to the Crime Lab for evaluation.
