How about some good news for a change?
Olivia Meeks, a senior at the University of Arkansas and a former Arkansas Academic All-Star as a senior at Lake Hamilton High School, has been chosen as a Truman Scholar. She is one of only 65 students from across the country this year (and the 14th the UA has produced since 1978) to be honored. Meeks will receive a $30,000 scholarship to be applied toward graduate study. More good news: She intends to get a master’s degree in public policy and eventually work on educational issues in Arkansas.
Another Truman Scholar with links to the Times: Warwick Sabin, former columnist now heading up communications at the University of Central Arkansas, in 1997.
