Bill Clinton may be magic at the Pink Tomato Festival, Dublin, Nairobi and even Kazakhstan but he’s pretty pedestrian in Puerto Rico. Clinton brought the Hillary cavalcade to the dusty towns of Puerto Rico Monday, maybe the first presidential campaign rallies in Puerto Rican history. While the sound trucks barked “Sí! Bill Clinton está aquí!” the excitement melted away when he began to talk prosaically in English.

“You might actually determine this election,” he told the crowd in Barceloneta. “If you vote for [Hillary] and give her a big margin, she’ll be the nominee and she will always honor your support.”

But the president couldn’t seem to connect with either his introducers or the audience, mispronouncing a couple of Spanish names.
