There’s not exactly a bumper crop of contested races on the primary election ballot in May, but that doesn’t mean there’s an absence of jousting.
For example, things are heating up in western Arkansas in the Republican primary race for state representative where Stephanie Malone and Brandon Woodrome are contestants for the open District 64 seat in the Fort Smith area. Here’s an ethics complaint filed against Woodrome over an alleged excess campaign contribution.
(If you want an early-morning urp, check out the syrupy “true conservative” Woodrome website complete with invocations of Ronald Reagan, his baby and the strains of “America the Beautiful.” Stick around for Mizriz Woodrome’s statement that American family values are “under siege.”)
ON ANOTHER TOPIC: A little noise is brewing in Conway, where Dr. Terry Fiddler and Linda Tyler are running for the Democratic nomination for state representatives. There’s some thinking, reflected in comments on this Log Cabin Democrat article and from a Republican insider who wrote me last night, that Fiddler is a Republican in Democrat’s clothing. Not that this would make him unique in the legislature should he win.
Perhaps this is a good thread for others to offer legislative election season tidbits from all over.
