An Arkie from Walnut Ridge has been implicated as the source of offensive T-shirts aimed apparently at Barack Obama. More details here from the Washington Post. The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation filed a report with the hates crime unit of the Washington, D.C., police after one of the shirts was sent there. The Post describes the shirt, which has a drawing of the character Curious George on the front:
The back of the shirt lists several African American organizations. … It prints the United Nations’ definition of “racial discrimination” and states, underneath the listing of all the black organizations, “Who is really causing the Racial Division.”
The t-shirt also says: “There are over 1,000 African American, Hispanic and other minority organizations in America. How many white organizations can you find? Or can you imagine what would happen every time one was made?” Mingled with the listing of the numerous black organizations is the Ku Klux Klan and two Hispanic groups.
Embarrassing episode all around. But I don’t recall Daily Kos or similar sources rooting out the work contact info for the purveyors of Hillary Clinton nutcrackers, beat-the-bitch T-shirts, or other widely distributed hateful messages about her, much less the filing of reports about potential hate crimes.
