Brummett discovers that he didn’t get the whole story last week about the $300,000 bonus paid UCA President Lu Hardin. He makes forcefully the point I made several times over the weekend — money made by on-campus businesses (bookstore, restaurants) is public money. Its use should be publicly disclosed. Its use doesn’t exempt it from other controls on public spending. It’s bad practice to allow the UCA board chair to unilaterally write checks up to $5,000 from the fund without Board approval.
