The final votes have been counted in the House District 38 race. John Edwards, the Democrat, carried the late-arriving military ballots over Kelly Eichler, the Republican, 4 to 2 (one of those for Edwards was not a regular ballot, but a write-in provided for military when regular ballots don’t arrive in time.) Edwards also carried the provisional ballots ruled eligible for counting, 12-8. So he added six votes to his previous 74-vote margin. All the ballots in the race will be recounted next week, at Eichler’s request. It’s a machine recount and, typically, such recounts and retabulations don’t produce significant changes.
