Somebody told me the other day that employees of U.S. automakers are paid $100,000 a year. I didn’t believe it, but I didn’t have any figures handy.

What do you guess the average hourly worker makes? Guess, then peek at the answer. I bet you were high. The average cost, including the “legacy” of negotiated health and pension benefits for retired workers, is another figure entirely. Easy fix. Screw those old codgers. What’s a contract mean anyway?
