I guess you’ve heard by now that flat-screen-crazed shoppers busted down the doors of a New York Wal-Mart at 4:55 a.m. today and killed an employee in the stampede. Three others were injured.

Despite this cautionary tale, I’m going to visit a Dallas shopping center in a few minutes. I’ll be the one reading a newspaper in the food court.
