The Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce is talking about easing the term limits provision of the Arkansas Constitution. It would require a ballot initiative. Stated reason: Not enough businessmen serving. The reason can’t be that the chamber doesn’t get its way often enough, because I can’t remember an issue of substance it’s been beat on. The problem probably is that the revolving door of representation requires a great deal of extra care and feeding (and I do mean feeding) in getting new passengers on the chamber express.
I never supported term limits. Still don’t. But if the state Chamber has problems with them, the subject perhaps deserves more thought.
