John Lyon reports today that Republican Reps. Andy Mayberry and Charlie Collins plan to stay in the race for lieutenant governor no matter what incumbent Reublican Mark Darr does. John Burkhalter is also running as a Democrat.

Darr had planned to run for Congress but dropped out last week amid a growing scandal about his misspending of campaign money for personal use. His statement of withdrawal was somewhat ambiguous about whether he’d run for lieutenant governor again.

The prediction here: He won’t. He has more troubles to come on the spending front than merely correcting “errors” on his campaign reports the last couple of years.
