New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg
has already meddled in Arkansas politics by targeting Sen. Mark Pryor with ads in his gun control campaign. It didn’t win Pryor support for stronger gun measures in Congress.

He’s not through.

Bloomberg is subject of a cover story in Time magazine this week. (Subscription required.) A  news release Time distributed about the article, according to a summary in the Washington Times,  said Bloomberg intends to spend $400 million on political issues important to him, including gun legislation. Among his planned spending priorities, the release said, is defeating Mark Pryor for his vote against expanding background checks on gun purchases. The article says Bloomberg has talked about calling every Democratic voter in Arkansas.

I can imagine a conversation.

Recorded phone call is made to a home in Bodcaw. It informs resident that Mark Pryor had cast a vote against gun control.

Recipient to wife after he hangs up:

“Hell, Mabel, I didn’t know Mark Pryor voted against gun control He may not be so bad after all.”

If Bloomberg succeeds he will, of course, elect a committed gun nut, Tom Cotton, instead. This is called shooting your nose off to spite your face.
