A couple of items from police reports around the state:
* DRIVING WHILE BLACK: UNEXPLAINED TRAFFIC STOP IN HAZEN: Fox 16 tells the story of a curious I-40 traffic stop by Hazen police of a black Memphis family. A cop wanted to search their car, though probable cause for the stop is absent in this account. No charges. Police chief apparently defends the cop’s action as being unrelated to race, but much remains to be known. Hazen, coincidentally or not, is a name that historically wasn’t paired with friendly race relations.
* THREE-YEAR-OLD KILLED BY GUNSHOT: A small child was shot in the head by a relative near Fontaine and died Saturday, but further information from the Greene County sheriff about circumstances and names of those involved has been slow in coming.
