The line is open. And why not another bit about Main Street and Little Rock neighborhoods? The video above is about UALR research into the changing look of Little Rock, particularly from a racial standpoint. Sprawl, urban renewal, parking lots, freeways — all played a role. There are some stunning photos of old Little Rock, with buildings we can only wish were still around.

The video relates to a program at noon Thursday at the Clinton School of Public Service. Bob Hupp, artistic director at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, will lead a panel discussion on the coming “Clybourne Park,” winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and a 2011 Tony for best play. Cliff Fannin Baker, director of the play, and Jess Porter and John Kirk of UALR, featured on the video above, will talk about how the play relates to race, real estate and history here.
