The line is open. Final words:
* JUDGE MAGGIO WITHDRAWS: As he indicated yesterday he would do, Circuit Judge Mike Maggio formally gave notice to the secretary of state’s office today that he wanted to withdrawn from the May election for a seat on the Arkansas Court of Appeals. Today was the deadline for withdrawing. It leaves Bart Virden of Morrilton unopposed for that seat. Maggio withdrew on account of reports about a judicial ethics investigation into his comments under pseudoynm on an LSU fan website. Comments included disclsoure of a confidential adoption proceeding in Faulkner County involving actress Charlize Theron. Maggio remains on the bench the rest of this year, unless the ethics investigation results in a sanction related to his current service.
* BUSTED AT OAKLAWN: KTHV has a sad one — two arrests at Oaklawn of mothers who left kids in cars in the Hot Springs casino’s parking lot while they went inside to play the slot machines. Kids were left untended on frigid days.
* LEGAL POT MEASURE NIXED AGAIN: Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has again rejected the form of a proposed initiative to legalize marijuana in Arkansas. Ambiguities.
