There’s an ironic touch to criticism raised of a Hollywood fund-raiser Thursday night ($2,000 to $10,000) for U.S. Sens. Mark Pryor and Mark Begich. Republican Rep. Tom Cotton and gun control groups are equally unhappy.

As Variety notes, hosts of the dinner include officials from Walt Disney, Universal and DreamWorks and the motion picture lobby. Organizations devoted to fighting gun violence urged that the fund-raiser be canceled. They didn’t like the votes by Pryor and Begich against legislation to strengthen gun purchase background checks.

Normally, Tom Cotton would be cheering anything the gun control lobby opposes. Not today. He sneers in this case that Pryor has jetted off to Hollywood to “hobnob with elite California liberals.” Says Cotton’s release:

Unlike Arkansas voters, these Hollywood leftists are ecstatic to share the 4th anniversary of Obamacare with the man who continues to call it ‘an amazing success’.”

Heck, maybe they’re ecstatic to support a fellow gun nut.

When Cotton jets, he jets to hobnob with reactionary elites in places like Sea Island, Ga.

But what do you think? Would an Arkansas voter prefer someone backed by Walt Disney or the Brothers Koch?
