Little Rock Police Department reports that human remains were found on Sunday evening just west of the 3400 block of W. 33rd Street. Officers were called to the scene just off University Ave. around 6 p.m. last night by a witness who stumbled across the skeleton. The remains will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to attempt identification.

UPDATE: Just received the police report, and it’s grisly stuff. Apparently, when police arrived at the scene, they made contact with the person who discovered the remains, who showed them a black trash bag with a skull and other bones inside. “[The witness] advised his dogs came out from the woods after a walk and he observed them chewing on the bones,” the report states. “[The witness] advised he gathered the bones to prevent his dogs from running off with them.”

Crime scene and detectives responded to the scene and later found other bones nearby. The search for more bones and other body parts is ongoing, with Lt. Sidney Allen with the LRPD saying it may take weeks to get a positive I.D. on the deceased.
