White, Daters and Associates engineers have filed requests with the Little Rock Planning Commission that would allow a five-story, 110-room hotel and a gas station on land formerly occupied by Brandon House Furniture at 12th Street and University Avenue.
Acting as agents for property owner BH Development LLC, White, Daters has asked for approval of a preliminary plat that would divide the 4.9 acres at the corner of University and 12th into four lots. The company has asked for a conditional use permit to allow construction the hotel — which it refers to as University Park Hotel — on Lot 4 (see above) and for a planned commercial district for a Murphy USA gas station, to be located on Lot 1, at the corner.
At a height of 60 feet, the hotel would be below grade of the University Park neighborhood to the west, the application says.
The Planning Commission will hold a hearing on the application at 4 p.m. June 26.
