Not much to report. I opted for a movie and couldn’t bring myself to join weeping throngs of teens coming and going from “The Fault in Our Stars.” I chose “Chef,” instead and wasn’t disappointed. It’s not high art, I guess, but the food is beautiful and the location shooting in Miami, New Orleans and Austin hit sweet spots in my memory, along with music geared to the changing scenery. If I could, I go to Franklin’s in Austin for brisket right this minute.
As it happens, I’m having brisket of a sort. With my wife out of town, I’m allowed to cook corned beef and cabbage. Lots of cabbage. Lots of carrots. Lots of onions. And then I can make reuben sandwiches with the leftover.
