The Tweet above came in a back-and-forth on Twitter on marriage equality, which Meeks opposes

Republican Rep. Stephen Meeks is a Greenbrier computer technician serving his second term in the Arkansas House. He has a brother, David Meeks, a former propane truck driver whose current legislative biography lists no occupation, who also serves as a Republican in the House and invariably agrees with his brother. Both claim deep Christian beliefs. Stephen Meeks is unopposed in November. David has a Democratic opponent, Frank Shaw of Conway.

Judge for yourself. I’ll just say that this is one example of why, after 22 years, that I still speak every year at Boys State and include words of support for gay kids from small Arkansas towns.

I hope Br’er Rapert doesn’t put the equation to a Legislative Council resolution vote, along with the petty demagoguery he plans this week to implicitly threaten retribution against judges who rule that the U.S. and Arkansas Constitutions guarantee equal treatment and due process of law to gay people. I’m afraid Stephen Meeks would have plenty of company.
