Little Rock School Board member Jody Carreiro announced today that he would seek re-election to the Zone 5 seat in September. District parent Jim Ross announced recently that he would run for the seat.

First elected in 2008, he’s a pension actuary and partner in Osborn, Carreiro and Associates. He and his wife have volunteered in the district and their two children attended King, Dunbar and Central. He said:

Six years ago, the voters in Zone 5 of the Little Rock School District elected and entrusted me to be part of the Little Rock School Board. I am convinced that this continues to be a very important duty: not only to serve the students, but also the city of Little Rock where our family has made our home. The district has made significant strides during the past six years, but many things are left to be completed. I want to see through the implementation of a facilities plan to improve our district as a whole. I want us to continue to take the budgetary steps needed to ensure the financial health of the district after the loss of the desegregation funding. Most importantly, I want to see the excellence we have in many of our schools extended to every school building in every corner of our city.
