It’s Friday. The comment line is open. Parting shots:
* REAL PEOPLE: The Human Rights Campaign has begun its Project One America Summer of Conversations, a project targeting the South with the simple notion that exposure to friends, family and neighbors who are LGBT could change hearts and minds. Videos have been made in Mississippi, Alabama and, here, Arkansas. The more people understand that they know someone who is gay or lesbian, the more likely they are to support legal equality.
* THEY CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH: FactCheck.org has issued yet another piece debunking dishonest advertising by Republican governors against Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Ross. Ross has previously been called down on his ads against Republican Asa Hutchinson. I don’t have a running total of factual miscues, but the numbers are likely to keep rising through November.
* HIT AND RUN ARREST: The State Police have arrested Jason Rhodes, 37, of Booneville on a negligent homicide charge and failure to stop in the hit-and-run death Tuesday night of Booneville pedestrian Joy Duvall, 50. She was walking only Highway 23 when struck.
