The city of Hot Springs, suddenly on fire with talk about reviving the historic center of the city, has a news conference this morning to announce a “major initiative to spur downtown development.” The announcement said the initiative is aimed at encouraging residential construction in the city and will target downtown, though help the entire city.

Specifics haven’t been announced, but they will include suspension of building permit fees for residential construction projects.
