* OLDEST LIVING PERSON IN U.S.: AP reports that an Arkansas woman living in a Camden nursing home has been judged the oldest living person in the U.S., at 116. She celebrates her birthday July 4. Gertrude Weaver’s advice: Follow God and the laws.
* HELP SOUGHT IN SLAYING: State Police have asked for help in finding a suspect in the slaying of Adah Lorraine Carte, 75, found dead in Carte’s Ozark Emporium in Bear Creek Springs (Boone County).
Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies and Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division are asking for help from the public in gathering information about a murder and possibly the name of a suspect. They have circulated this image taken on the store’s surveillance camera of a man and a vehicle he drove. He was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, shorts and a ball cap with a Batman logo. He was driving a Ford conversion van. People with information are asked to call the Boone County sheriff or State Police.
UPDATE: The Baxter Bulletin is reporting that a suspect may be in custody.
