ROSS MEETS VICTIM'S MOTHER: With Laura Ponce.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Ross gets more national attention today — a spot on MSNBC — for his domestic violence proposal inspired by an article about a murder victim in Arkansas who’d endured repeat violence by her boyfriend.

Ross met Tuesday in Eureka Springs with victim Laura Aceve’s mother, Laura Ponce.

Ponce told The Huffington Post that she finally felt like her daughter’s death had been acknowledged by those in power.

“He made me feel like a human being again,” she said. “What he’s offering is going to make a big change in Arkansas. I’m sad I lost my daughter, but if we can help save other women, I will be grateful. We don’t need more women dying.”

Ross has proposed increased funding for shelters, more training for law officers and a protective order database for law enforcement officials.
