Talk Business reports on news that Plains and Eastern Clean Line has received federal approval for a project to deliver wind-generated electricity to several states including Arkansas. This could be good news for a state looking for ways to produce power with expensive investments in outdated coal-burning power plants.

But ….

Approval of the transmission project at the federal level brings us to a more emotional issue — running high-voltage power lines through Arkansas. This has been a subject here before.

We’ve heard repeatedly from opponents of the project who promise bitter-end resistance to erection of lines to deliver this energy. They also mutter darkly about some prominent Arkansas political figures who’ve been working to facilitate “clean line” delivery through Arkansas.

Something to watch.
