The police distributed reports today of some arrests in the field this Labor Day weekend:
* GUN DRAWN ON KIDS; CHASE ENSUES: An officer who saw a gun pointed from a BMW at young boys on the street near 16th and Chester about 5 p.m. Sunday attempted a traffic stop that led to a car chase, then a foot chase and then the arrest of three suspects who’d hidden out in dorm rooms at Philander Smith College. The three face a variety of charges from fleeing to possession of a weapon on school property.
* BURGLARY INTERRUPTED: Officers interrupted a burglary in progress about 6 a.m. this morning at American Pre-Own at 6706 S. University and arrested a men suspected of cutting a fence to steal a $9,000 Kubota ATV. One man was captured near the business. Another man is listed as a suspect. Officers said they found vehicle doors open on the lot and the steering column broken in one vehicle.
* CAR THEFTS: Police arrested a man suspected of stealing from cars parked in the 200 block of North Polk Street about 2 a.m. today. A witness called police after seeing the man try door handles on several vehicles. Cops found the suspect on bicycle nearby. He told police he took loose changed from two cars — 50 cents in one case. He insisted he didn’t break windows, merely looked for unlocked cars to search for loose change. The suspect was issued a citation for misdemeanor theft.
