Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office just sent out a release saying Aaron M. Lewis, who had been sought on a bench warrant for kidnapping in the disappearance of realtor Beverly Carter, is in custody.
A release from the PCSO says Lewis was apprehended by the Little Rock Police Department, and is currently being transported to the Investigations Division. Police say Lewis was arrested after being spotted in a Subway sandwich restaurant on Green Mountain Drive in West Little Rock. He fled to a nearby apartment complex, where he was arrested by officers with the Little Rock Police Department.
UPDATE: Spokesman Sidney Allen with the Little Rock Police Department has sent out the following preliminary report on Lewis’ arrest:
On todays’s date, at approximately [9:43 a.m.], Officers Cedric Roy #30414 and James Nellis #23695 were dispatched to a possible sighting of wanted subject Aaron Michael Lewis in the area of Green Mountain & Rainwood. Lewis was wanted by Pulaski County as a suspect in the disappearance of Beverly Carter.
A witness observed Lewis at the bus stop near the Subway at Green Mountain & Rainwood and recognized him as the wanted subject on the news.
As the witness and a friend approached Lewis, Lewis fled on foot westbound toward the Pleasant Pointe Apartments at 1602 Green Mountain. The witnesses dialed 911 and gave chase. When officers arrived, the suspect had run into the manager’s office at Pleasant Pointe. As Officer Roy closed in on the suspect, the suspect jumped out a window and attempted to flee around the side of the building. Officer Nellis met him and immediately took Lewis into custody without further incident. Pulaski County was contacted and the officers subsequently transported Lewis to PCSO.
