Big crowd and lots of cheese dip in a perfect setting at Bernice Garden and the 1400 block of Main today for the world cheese dip championship. Looks like Eve Yancey’s leadership is going to make this a perpetual winner for Harmony Health Clinic.
I voted by the number and had to leave before the reveal. A little queasy after 13 cups of cheese dip.
I also had the great pleasure of voting today. So many easy choices. Voting at the election commission office on Broadway couldn’t have been easier. The staff tis ample and knows its business. It was a said day, though, in one respect. Election worker Jason Hill and I shared a choked-up moment for a big hole in the staff this year because of the passing of his grandmother, Mattie Willis, a perpetually cheerful presence even as she fought health problems.
I’ve vowed not to plunge deeply into the morass of reading early election tea leaves. But I will give you this fact:
EARLY VOTING IN PULASKI COUNTY, FIRST SIX DAYS
2014
25,975
2010
16,533
That’s a big increase over the last mid-term election, but of course trailing the total for 2012, a presidential election year, of 33,941..
