The federal judge adopted the reasoning in a 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling.

Hearings are set Nov. 20 in both the Arkansas Supreme Court and federal district court on separate lawsuits challenging the Arkansas ban, struck down by Circuit Judge Chris Piazza. In Kansas, as here, the law prevented not only marriage but prevented the state from recognizing legal marriages from other states.

The Kansas judge stayed his ruling until Nov. 11.
