STAN WITT: Out as State Police director.

Col. Stan Witt, director of the Arkansas State Police, will be among the state agency heads changing under the administration of Gov.-elect Asa Hutchinson.

The State Police issued this statement late this afternoon:

Colonel Stan Witt, Director of the Arkansas State Police, shared the following announcement with all Arkansas State Police employees:

“I was informed yesterday by Governor-elect Asa Hutchinson that he will make a change in the leadership of the Arkansas State Police. A new State Police Director will be named soon.

During the transition period which is unfolding within state government, I ask for your support of Arkansas’ new governor and his new State Police Director. Many people are counting on us to make the transition seamless and continue to build on the trusted reputation the Arkansas State Police has with the citizens of Arkansas.

Change is only another word for new opportunities. But if we are to be successful as these new opportunities arise, we must continue with a spirit of service and the remarkable commitment to the job assignments each of you have demonstrated over the past two years and four months while I’ve been your State Police Director.
I ask for your continued support and I appreciate each of you!”

Witt, a 27-year State Police veteran, was appointed director by Gov. Mike Beebe in August 2012.
