The State Police said today that a 44-year-old man wanted by Houston police died at a Hope hospital today from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a traffic stop.
A news release said the man was stopped near Prescott at the 45-mile marker of eastbound Interstate 30 about 10:20 a.m. A woman and three children were in the car at the time of the traffic stop. The youngest of the children was believed to have been the subject of an Amber Alert issued for a missing child.
State Police didn’t release further details. But KHOU-TV in Houston provides more details.
The Houston child was reported missing after his mother was found dead at her Houston apartment. In addition to seeking the child, authorities issued an alert for a Suburban being driven by his father, Tumetheus Pack. The KHOU report identifies him as the man who died of a gunshot wound near Prescott and that the 14-month-old boy in the car was the child reported missing in Houston.
