Politico reports on campaign staffers for Mike Huckabee’s coming 2016 presidential campaign and it says they include Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin as a “senior political adviser.”

When Griffin announced he’d not seek re-election, but would come home to run for lieutenant governor and seek private employement, he said it would be for political consulting work for Purple Strategies. The law prohibits him from “lobbying,” though the distinction between that and lobbying is hazy. But a direct political campaign role? What happened to Purple Strategies?

Constitutional officers, unlike state employees, don’t labor under the same restrictions on political activities during nominal work time, though Griffin presumably use any state resource — phone, computer, office — to conduct any presidential business.

I’ve sent a question to his office about the report.

Politico says Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the Floridian’s daughter, will be campaign manager. Chip Saltsman will be senior adviser and Bob Wickers will poll and be media consultant.
