One man is dead and another in custody following a fatal shooting this morning on a church parking lot in Oak Grove.

The sheriff’s office said Chad Johnson was fatally wounded as a result of an argument over damaged property. Eric Schmidt, 53, the alleged shooter, also was taken to a hospital for treatment and has been charged with second-degree murder. According to an account on Channel 7, the disagreement was over earlier damage to a gate at an unknown location.

The shooting happened about 6:25 a.m. at Graves Memorial Baptist Church on Oak Grove Road.
