Circuit Judge Tim Fox today ruled against Brad Bolding, who argued that his firing in April as football coach at North Little Rock High violated the teacher fair dismissal act.
David Couch, Bolding’s attorney, said the judge held the School Board’s action had to be arbitrary and capricious to be overturned. Couch argued that the issue was substantial compliance with the state Teacher Fair Dismissal Act. He said an appeal was likely. The argument is procedural — such as about required notice to teachers when problems are perceived, rules on scheduling of hearings and similar. The suit said the district’s perosnnel policies were so deficient teaches couldn’t be expected to understand them.
Bolding was fired over what the district said was failure to comply with purchasing procedures on items bought for the team and also questions about recruiting a star player.Couch has contended Bolding was targeted by an athletic department official.
