The tech press is reporting today on Facebook’s decision to  shut down its Oculus Story Studio. It says it’s going to continue to support virtual reality development by others, but, writes Mashable:

Nevertheless, the major backpedal will be read by some as a sign that non-gaming VR content may be dead on arrival as a serious, mainstream form of entertainment.

I was drawn to the story because I remembered it was only January when Arkansas was used as the backdrop for touting of Oculus by Facebook.  Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who’s emphasizing computer literacy, announced that Facebook was giving 500 Oculus Rift VR kits to Arkansas schools to spur instruction.
