Two inmate deaths, in separate Arkansas prisons, were referred to State Police for investigation, according to the Arkansas Department of Correction. Both were found deceased in their cell.
Kenneth Jones, 29, was found dead at approximately 9 a.m. on Aug. 5 in his cell at the Cummins Unit in Grady, according to the ADC. He was serving a 25-year sentence for sexual assault.
UPDATE (3:12 p.m.) Jones, according to a medical examiner report obtained by the Arkansas Times, was last seen alive at 8:10 a.m. the morning of Aug. 5 by an ADC official. Cody Brickner, 30, was found dead in his cell at approximately 1:30 a.m. Sept. 2 at the Maximum Security Unit in Tucker. He was serving a 4-year sentence for forgery.
ADC said that, along with the State Police investigation, the department would be conducting its own internal investigation.
