Nicole Clowney, who teaches classical studies at the University of Arkansas, will announce in Fayetteville this morning as a Democratic candidate for House District 86, which covers most of the city.
She joins City Council member Mark Kinion as an announced candidate for the seat currently held by Rep. Greg Leding, who’s running for an open Senate seat.
Check Clowney’s web page. In addition to degrees from Univesity of Chicago and Yale Law, her resume includes work for a nonprofit law firm specializing in children’s issues and being a founding member of the Northwest Arkansas group of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
Issue page highlights: Inclusion, environmental protection, higher minimum wage, well-funded public and higher education including pre-K, affordable health care, comprehensive sex education.
Kinion, I should add, has a solid record as a Council member. He lost a race for county judge last year.
