KARK reports on a fatal shooting by a law officer in Baxter County.

A deputy responding to report of a theft at a store at Lone Rock said he chased and stopped a man on a tractor fitting the description of one reported stolen earlier in the day.

The sheriff says preliminary information shows once the deputy stopped the tractor, the driver confronted the deputy with a crossbow. After a fight, the deputy shot the man with his sidearm.

The suspect died. The deputy sustained minor injury.

The State Police are investigating.
