“The president doesn’t believe any of the claims Ms. Daniels made in the interview last night were accurate,” White House spokesman Raj Shah told reporters this afternoon.

Trump’s attorney has already admitted paying her hush money, so this just seems like lying for the sake of lying. In other words, it’s Monday and Donald Trump is the president of these United States.

Daniels’ attorney, Michael Avenatti, argued to “60 Minutes” that the story here is not just about sex (although obviously that’s a major part of the interest), but about abuse of power:

This is about the cover-up. This is about the extent that Mr. Cohen and the president have gone to intimidate this woman, to silence her, to threaten her, and to put her under their thumb. It is thuggish behavior from people in power. And it has no place in American democracy.
