Arkansans for a Fair Wage, which is attempting to qualify an initiated act for a state minimum wage increase, has turned in 44,000 more signatures today to the secretary of state.
A review will now determine how many are signatures of registered voters.
The secretary of state had announced Monday that the initial petitions contained 52,124 valid signatures with 68,861 needed. But the campaign qualified for an additional 30 days to cure the shortfall. It had been gathering signatures since the deadline for the first submission July 6.
The proposal would raise the current minimum of $8.50 an hour to $11 by Jan. 1, 2021.
