The Arkansas Repertory Theatre announced today progress toward resuming productions at the theater, which suspended this year’s season for financial reasons, including a date for an announcement of the 2019 season.

A news release says the Rep will announce the 2019 season at a party at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Rep.

“We are thrilled to confirm that The Rep is returning with a revitalized commitment to providing Arkansas audiences with the same high quality professional theatre that they have come to expect from us,” said Ruth Shepherd, Rep board chair and interim leadership team member.

“Attendees will not only be the first to learn what shows will be produced as part of our much-anticipated Mainstage 2019 season, but they will also be able to purchase their season tickets that very night,” said Shepherd, who noted that renewing subscribers will be able to secure their assigned seats from previous seasons.

Interim General Manager and board member, Bill Rector, said, “We anticipate high attendance for the reveal based on the amount of community support and interest the theatre has received since it announced earlier this year that the theatre would be forced to cut its 2018 season short and immediately suspend productions due to critical cash flow issues.”

Reserve for the party, which is free, by emailing zrhodes@therep.org.

Fund-raising continues. Since the suspension, the Rep has raised $692,000 — matched by grants from the John and Robyn Horn and Windgate Foundations — but hopes to raise $1.2 million more to complete debt retirement and establish reserve operating funds.
