The opposition to Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court has grown among law school professors in the U.S. and Arkansas. The likely confirmation vote will be Saturday, after 51-49 cloture vote today.

I’ve updated the item about law professor opposition to Kavanaugh on account of his injudicious remarks before the Senate. More than 2,400 have signed the letter, including 14  law faculty members in Arkansas.

Signatories from the Bowen Law School in Little Rock include John DiPippa, George Mader, J. Lynn Entrikin, Robert Minarcin, Coleen Barger, and Kelly Browe-Olson and from UA-Fayetteville, Deborah Borman, Nicole Civita, Brian Gallini, Carol Goforth, Susannah Pollvogt, Laurent Sacharoff, Susan Schneider and Danielle Weatherby.

The procedural vote to authorize a final vote was approved this morning 51-49.

Key Senators Jeff Flake, Susan Collins and Joe Manchin voted “yes.”  Sen. Lisa Murkowski voted “no”.

Collins has said she’ll announce her vote this afternoon. But Jeff Flake has said he’s voting for Kavanaugh, which likely means the deal is done. Murkowski says she’ll vote no. That leaves Collins and Manchin as potential swing votes.
