YOU'RE FIRED: Leslie Rutledge wants no protection for transgender people.

Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, with not enough to do in Arkansas (has her ethics effort produced anything yet?), has joined other Republican legal officers in yet another lawsuit intervention out of state — this time to challenge a New York state gun law.

It seems New York requires a permit to own a handgun at home and limits its use outside the home except to take to shooting ranges. New York does offer a “carry” permit for pistol packing, but Rutledge says it’s hard to get. Plus, guns permitted for premises use can’t be taken out of state.

Rutledge, a Federalist except when it comes to state laws she doesn’t like, wants the Supreme Court to review this law and say it goes too far in the interest of public safety. She says the law infringes on interstate commerce by keeping gun owners from patronizing out-of-state gun ranges.
