Back in May, Little Rock lawyer Matt Campbell sued Republican state Rep. Laurie Rushing in North Carolina for defamation for saying publicly that Marine Capt. Thomas Watts had killed his wife (Rushing’s daughter), Tara. Tara Watts died of natural causes, the medical examiner said, in 2016. And, so you ask, whatever became of the lawsuit?
Campbell, who also writes the Blue Hog Report blog, has quite an update today. He details the inability to serve lawsuit papers on Rushing and raises questions about where she lives. Campbell’s girlfriend did manage to approach Rushing as she and state Rep. Ken Henderson left a Little Rock restaurant last Thursday. She told Rushing she had legal papers and eventually put them under the windshield wiper of her Lincoln.
Next? Who knows?
Rushing is seeking re-election this year. Her Democratic opponent is Alan Hughes.
