Regina Hopper,
the Arkansas native who is CEO of the Miss American organization, will speak at 6 p.m. Monday at the Clinton School. Could be fun.

Hopper is a key figure in the controversial makeover of the Miss America competition following a leadership change. This has included the end of swimsuit competition. A number of state organizations aren’t happy about it. Maybe some women in swimsuits could picket Hopper’s appearance.

In all seriousness, Hopper is a lawyer, former lobbyist, former network news correspondent and a former Miss Arkansas. She’s also the daughter of Bobby Hopper, for whom Arkansas’s one and only interstate highway tunnel is named.

This will give you some of the flavor of Miss Amerrica’s recent controversies.
